Alexander's World New Poems

R e m e m b r a n c e   o f   a   F i r s t   L o v e r

Sometimes ...

  we just would lay together,
    beside each other,
      half draped
    over one another,
      nude ...

  sometimes hard,
    sometimes not,
      and talk in whispers,
    caressing each other,
      with words and fingertips ...

  or kiss
    for long minutes
      and listen
    to the heart beat
      of the other
or the rain on the roof ...

  I liked to lay
    my head on his chest
      and feel
    his fingers
      tenderly stroke through
    my hair.

Sometimes ...

  no, not sometimes,
    but always,
      always I knew
    in these precious moments
      I was in love ...

  and even now,
    so many days,
      so many nights later,
    his scent stays with me,
      warming my heart,
    in remembrance.

Always ...

  yes, always, my love,
you reside in my heart ...
      the first,
    though not the last,
      and still most precious.
