James Allan Ross: Looking Inward

D a n g e r o u s    O b s t a c l e s

So many trivialities
so much pain
and so little time to heal
this is life for our kind

The artificial world
with all of its trappings
keeps us prisoners
separated from our true souls

Yet there is a path to our goal

Soar past man's summit
into bittersweet melancholy!
As I
you'll see your dream
awaits your return!
The path is clearly marked!

But caution
your every step
every thoguht
brings you further
into the realm
of individuality

For now
nihilism might be your mentor
but be on guard
against too close a friendship
for even the wise
and trusted
can become Judas's
