Toronto Gay Pride Week 2001 was officially the 21st year
of gay pride festivities in our city.
This was the second and last year that my company, Toronto
Web Services, Inc., was a Silver Media Sponsor. In exchange
for $10K in services, we had banners at about eight locations
on pylons around Church St and along the parade route. In
addition to sponsoring Pride Toronto, we also backed the
InsideOut Lesbian Gay Film Festival in 2001 and 2002; the
Gay Life and Style Show (1st Edtion, 2000); and the Rogers
Cable community gay television show, 10%QTV for the 2000-01
season.

| PFLAG (Parents and Friends of Lesbians and Gays) has chapters in many cities across Canada. Especially in smaller communities, PFLAG is sometimes the only peer support families coming to grips with a member coming out will have. Each year, Toronto PFLAG makes an appearance in the parade along with several chapters in Ontario and neighbouring US states. |

People wear regular street clothes, and sometimes more outrageous attire. The crowds, which are a wonderful mix of ages, races, str8 and gay families, young children and grandparents, come out to have a day of fun in the sun. |
