Toronto Gay Pride Week 2002 was officially the 22nd year
of gay pride festivities in our city.
While many people think of the out gay lifestyle as being
one of endless parties and the singles scene, many of us
form deep and lasting relationships -- with other men,
women and however we personally find the expression of God.

The Native Indian culture in North America has a wonderful
term for its gay individuals: "two-spirited". On this float,
buff bods were replaced by ceremonial garb of various
represented native tribes.
(Which reminds me: I must ask my ex why I was often referred to as "Little Feather". Hmmmmm!) |

The Quakers had an entry again this year as did several other less traditional organizational expressions of faith. (Not shown but present were such widely divergent entries for Jewish, Catholic, Raelian and other groups.) |
| There was more to the Anglican contingent than this pic shows but I snapped this one with several HOW folks in mind who are clergy and lay members of Presbyterian, Lutheran, Episcopalian and Baptist branches of Christianity (among other variations). |

The Muslim community was also very well represented with multiple entries reminding us of not just the religious but also the political battles they face. Those of us who have gay Muslim friends will know just how tough the current climate is to be Muslim, let alone a *gay* Muslim. |

While PrideVision, the world's first 24/7 Gay television channel
may seem more commercial than spiritual, this Canadian endeavour
helps bring our voice to those outside the major gay centres
of Toronto, Vancouver, Calgary, Montreal and Halifax. Being
openly out gay, for some of us, is an expression of our
spiritual core. And besides, I wanted a picture of the ever
luscious J.R. Anderson, host of the travel series, "Bump!". :-)
(US surfers take note: PrideVision is slated for a USA digital satelite launch late this year!) |
